Czech design wins Handz Down

Multi talented Czech graphic designer, photographer and composer, Jan Skácelík, has turned his passion for Nordic mid-century design into these stunning posters.  It’s no surprise where inspiration for his retro posters is derived from when you take a peek inside this industrious 28 year old’s pad in the eastern historical city of Olomouc. Everywhere you turn in Jan’s glorously light-filled apartment there is reference to Scandinavian design greats such as Cathrineholm, Stig Lindberg, Marianne Westman, and other mid-century classics from Charles and Ray Eames and Herman Miller. Certainly every mid-century design collector’s wet dream!  Jan’s other retro influenced posters include iconic 1950s furniture and eye charts with cute phrases like “I love you like a fat pug loves cake”.  Jan is a huge lover of pugs (a man after my own heart) AND of vintage glove molds (is this a match made in heaven, or what?!)! Judging from the monumental amount of sales (not far off 4000!) through Jan’s etsy shop, Handz, Jan’s posters are making their mark.

Jan’s blog, Design Attractor, full of gorgeous interiors and innovative art, is also worth checking out.
