Exhibition at NG: New Jewellery by Jane Dodd
I’m thrilled to announce the latest contemporary jewellery exhibition by The National will be set in NG, the old warehouse on Madras St. Home to Sharon Ng’s elegant designer threads, an art gallery and NG Cafe (where I had the pleasure of working and using as the backdrop for this Homestyle shoot), this will be the first time NG has opened its doors since the February quake. Caroline Billing (owner of The National) is very excited to be able to have access to such a fantastic space as a temporary home for her various collections of New Zealand and Australian artists.
Blood Sports is the newest collection by Dunedin jeweller Jane Dodd. It was through Jane Dodd’s Fairy Tale collection, that I was first introduced to contemporary jewellery. The first piece I received as a gift (a gorgeous silver and rose gold ticking mattress from ‘The Princess and The Pea”), sparked a fascination and deep appreciation for her diminutive sculptures, and would mark the beginning of my interest in the applied arts.
